PROGRAMAÇÃO EDUCATIVA

With the aim of disseminating and exploring the project's contents to a wider audience, in addition to the exhibition, a program of parallel activities is developed: guided tours and workshops for the general public, a laboratory with students from the Faculty of Fine Arts, several debates, conversations between curators and artists and a conference with guests from the scientific field.

‘Connecting cultures to feeling and homeostasis strengthens their links to nature and deepens the humanization of the cultural process. (...) Counters the growing detachment of cultural ideas and practices,  from the process of life.

in The Strange Order of Things_ p.17 A. Damásio

BETWEEN ART, SCIENCE AND EDUCATION

In a context of failure of separationist and reductionist theories in understanding the world and the sustainability of existence itself, a review and a new paradigm are required.

These parallel actions aim to raise awareness on the systemic approach, assuming the interrelation and connectivity of all phenomena and of the human being integrated into existence, as opposed to anthropocentrism and analytical reductionism. They seek to promote environmental sustainability and awareness of the implementation of good practices, linking the arts with other sectoral areas.

Invitation to think about culture as a biological phenomenon.

The perspectives of the artists and curators, framed within the basic concepts of the project; artistic practice focused on the sustainability of the means used. Creative processes as a place of existence, retreat, relationship with nature, and communion with the whole. A critical look at the human/nature relationship, in the sense of its equity.

WORKSHOP

NATURA /HUMANA

A series of three sessions, led by artist Salomé Nascimento. The work proposes an awareness of our connection to nature and the need to protect it, exploring various techniques, such as drawing, conscious breathing, creative movement, observation under a microscope, painting with natural elements and the ancient photographic process of cyanotype.

17 NOV | 11am - 1pm

FEEL, being form _ Keywords: breathing, creative movement and ‘blind’ drawing

A contemplative activity to connect with nature, develop focus and mindfulness. Through ‘blind’ drawing (without looking at the paper) and breathing exercises, we will observe the natural forms of the botanical garden. Then, through the exploration of organic movement, the participant is invited to feel an integral part of nature through the body, its basic actions and the natural flow of the organism, understanding creative movement as a vehicle for connecting with the body and nature.

24 NOV | 11am - 1pm

GO INSIDE, go beyond _  Palavras-chave: observação ao microscópio, experimentação pictórica com elementos naturais.

Observação ao microscópio de elementos recolhidos no jardim Botânico. A partir olhar é proposta uma intervenção sobre o material criado no primeiro workshops com diferentes técnicas e materiais: collage, pigmentação com elementos naturais, terras e outros elementos.

1 DEC | 11am - 1pm  / 2pm-4pm

RECORDING with light _  Keywords: cyanotype, artisanal photography

By learning about the potential offered by the cyanotype technique, photographic records are created of the organic elements collected in the garden, exploring the effects of printing light on paper previously sensitized with photosensitive chemical emulsion.

GUIDED TOURS

Concept and collaboration: LUGAR ESPECÍFICO

Taking place between November 8, 2024 and January 12, 2025, aimed at schools and the general public, by appointment directly with the MUHNAC-ULisboa educational service.

Synopsis: Are you familiar with the concept of homeostasis? Does deep ecology ring a bell? Come and find out more about these two concepts that inspired this exhibition.

Take the challenge and reflect on the question posed by philosopher Arne Naess:

How can I live in a way that is good for myself, good for others, and sustainable for the planet? What can I change?
